The Rebuild is going to be slow

Well I keep telling my self that good work takes time, which I'm sure it does. The bathroom project has slowed down a bit since all the contractor deadlines have come and gone.

The sub floor is in and the beginnings of insulation are being put up. Over the weekend Dad Kirsch has been lending a hand in the reconstruction process by doing the wiring of the lights and receptacles. I completed some odds and ends work (finishing my stud wall) in preparation to let the bathroom take a back seat to a more looming project.

The large scale of the work yet to be done in the bathroom and the time left before the hot PA summer has lead me to switch gears into the SpacePak AC project. Dad and I actually toured a co-worker's house who also did the air handler, and supply run install himself. This system is very impressive and I am actually very excited about getting this project rolling. (Although as I sit here there is 3" of new snow and it is still snowing) Virtually every time I get a spare moment I am thinking about how to get an outlet into one room or the other.

Floor and more

Wow! Things are going back in the bathroom now. We are almost ready to start more of the reconstruction phase. The main key to the reconstruction is having a sub-floor to walk around on.

Well after the plumbing was roughed in it was time to install a sub-floor. I finished up the sub-floor today cutting in rough holes for the fixtures and drains. I installed half of the sub floor last weekend but had too many cuts to finish up so I left it for this weekend. We were surprised when my little sister BillieAnne and her boyfriend decided to pay us a visit to see Andrew and take a quick break from D.C. So I had a bit extra help in the bathroom today. While I finished up the 3/4 inch sub-floor Jason worked on installing some of the insulation.

Double contractors.

Wow! Busy day here with the noise level quite high. Melissa and I are actually amazed that Matthew slept his normal 1.5 hr nap today with all the noise going on right in the next room.

Today the plumbers were here to rough-in the bathroom. Todays main task was getting the drain system in. I walked him through where every thing was going to be. Then had to switch gears and talk with the electrician about the plans for the bathroom; steam generator here, exhaust fan here, lights here here and here....

What a mess, then I had to rush off to my day job. I got some bad news roughly an hour and a half later. The plumber called. Dad and I had missed a 6" section of the cast-iron stack. This ment they had to waste time removing this before the new one could be positioned.

When I returned home today we were semi roughed-in with one error. They missed one vanity rough-in. This will most likely not be a problem to correct since the sub-floor is not going in until Saturday.
