Onsite

Two days into the AC project and what do we have to show for the effort?

Ok so we are definatly not going for the one-week to install option. :-P Dad and I have been working on mounting the air handler in the attic area. After some initial work of repositioning an electric box and the pre cutting some holes in the plaster. We started on the real engineering.

Fun Eh..

So the design is as follows: the air-handler system will hang from the roof rafters reducing the noise produced by the blower that would have been transfered into our bedroom via the floor mount option. This took a bit of calculating to get to a point where I could drill the eye bolts into the roof rafters. The eye bolts are in place and the threaded rod is almost cut to length. Should be able to get the handler in position before too long.

Shipment One

A large shippment arrived today.

Yep! The SpacePak equipment arrived today. This was the bulk of the order for the install of our AC system. At last minute (when ordering) I was faced with the delima of no fiberboard duct being available so this fact ended up making the (fiberboard vs. sheet metal plenum) decision for me that I had been wavering about. And now the big day has arrived and I got my first hands on look at the stuff. Seems like it will be a nice fit and durable as well.

I'm looking at taking some time off towards the end of this week and beginning of next to do the install now. Before it gets way tooooo hot!

Quick Note..

I placed a major order yesterday and thought I should post to remind myself about the initial start of this huge project.

Ok so what did I order? I placed the order for the SpacePak air handler and components. I also have the condenser unit lined up through our plumber. I opted with a Carrier r410a condenser unit. I'm just hopeing that I can have things in order by the end of May.

That time-frame could be pushing it a bit but the heat is coming ... it is already present :-)

Who Says..

As mentioned before this was the big weekend for the long awaited junk removal. Our dumpster was deliverd Friday afternoon and it only took me half an hour before I got around to throwing stuff into it. :-)

I began leisurly putting things into the dumpster on Friday and really started to move stuff at 8:30 on Sat. By around 1pm on Satruday the box was pretty much full.

We did not end up getting the largest size available, rather we got the one that I felt would fit the stuff - 15 cubic yards. When the box was dropped off Melissa was skeptical and I was hopeful. It turns out that I got all the plaster and other bathroom debris into the dumpster. This included the yuck carpet that was left by the PO as well as other odds and ends. Also all the insulation removed thus far was able to fit. What did not fit was the piles - and piles - and piles - and piles of sticks and removed shrubry. I am looking into burning this stuff or finding someone with a burn pile in the area that would let me drop it off.

Might be gettin full..

Ok .. now I can have a beer.. well after they take the box away tomorrow.
(That was my own personal restriction / motivation technique to get the box and get rid of that pile-o-..... )

Over Due

Ok .. So I'm way over due on entries..

Actually alot of stuff to make note of. Most importantly is that I have contracted the long over-due dumpster to arrive. It will be here this Friday at 3:30pm, just in time for me to spend the next week filling it with all the rubbish and junk from the PO as well as my bathroom destruction.

In other things happening I have deicded on my SpacePak order now I just have to place it. Oh yea I also have to buy another drill and some cool drill bits.
